Some implications of knowledge management theory for e-business

The goal of being dynamic and responsive is often associated with success in e-business. This paper seeks to give added understanding to this concept by applying selected knowledge management theories and frameworks to e-business. The paper finds three major implications of knowledge management for e-business: firstly, recognition of the important role social networks play in an environment dominated by computer networks; secondly, in the absence of established business models, it is necessary for business to monitor external information sources and continually assess such information in order to determine strategies and thirdly, there is a need to consider the appropriateness of organisational structures in terms of information acquisition, distribution and use.
