The role of culture in second language pedagogy

摘要
Just as the influence of intralingual overgeneralization and linguistic universals is now acknowledged in contemporary second language acquisition research, this article attempts to argue for the importance of overgeneralization and universals in helping to explain the impact of culture on second language learning. Research from applied linguistics, as well as examples of the various effects of culture on the language acquisition process, are presented from the following four perspectives: people, language, cognition, and emotions.
