Fullerene Structures Suitable for Fuel Cells Electrodes

Objects of the presentation are fullerenes, carbon nanotubes, layered pyrographite surfaces and nanohorns. The different methods for obtaining these at present are discussed together with their advantages and shortfalls. The characteristic specifics of the separate types of structures and similarities and differences between them are outlined. Emphasis is placed on those parameters that should be of interest in view of the application as electrodes. Special attention is paid to their mechanical and electrical properties as well as the active surface yield. Examples are shown presenting the current tendencies regarding the investigation of these types of materials. Their prospective applications are discussed in view of their qualities and high prices at present.
