Development of Stereoselective Glycosylation Methods and Their Application to the Synthesis of Oligosaccharides and Glycosphingolipids

(2c)(3) The lecture will describe a method for the construction of the α-D-galactofuranosyl linkage using CB glycosides as glycosyl donors and a new method for the highly reactive and stereoselective β-D- mannopyranosylation using a gly cosyl donor other than the CB glycoside. The lecture will also cover the application of these new methods to the synthesis of a tetrasaccharide repeat unit 1 containing the β-mannopyranosyl linkage and the synthesis of a disaccharide repeat unit 2 and antineoplastic agents, galactosphingolipids 3 and 4 containing the α-D-galactofuranosyl linkage.
