摘要
In this work1 we describe an activity currently under- going within Dept. 7 of NEWCOM, jointly carried out by CNIT and LNT-TUM. It aims at developing a new and ∞exible simulation tool, able to support the investigation of the performance of sophisticated transmission strategies for heterogeneous tra-c classes, including video stream- ing, over difierent types of radio interfaces. As this activ- ity is currently under development and the software tool is not complete, this paper shows the purpose of this joint work and provides results taken from previous works car- ried out by the participating groups. In particular, novel results related to a channel aware scheduling algorithm applied to a MC-CDMA radio interface are shown: the characteristics of the MC-CDMA transmission system, the power control algorithm, the frequency-selective fading on the channel and the intercell interference are considered through a semi-analytical approach. However, no realistic tra-c source models are taken into account. The results shown should be considered as preliminary with respect to those that will be achieved through the new simula- tion tool, which will account for realistic video streaming source models and will also include advanced bufier man- agement techniques speciflcally designed for multimedia tra-c.
