摘要
Cold formed steel angles with bolted connections connected on single leg normally undergo net section failure for relatively longer connections. Since only one leg is connected, the stresses lag in the elements, which are not connected directly (referred as shear lag effect) reducing the tensile capacity of angles. Twelve experiments have been carried out on single angle bolted tension members connected by single leg to investigate the mode of failure and the ultimate load carrying capacity. The parameters considered in this experimental programme are: number of bolts/connection length, shear lag distance and ratio of connected leg length to unconnected leg length. All the specimens underwent net section rupture of failure.
