The foundation of the Spanish society of anaesthesiology

The establishment of the Spanish Association of Anaesthesiology (Asociación Española de Anestesiologı́a, AEDA) presents two well-defined phases: (1) from the first proposals in 1950, up to February 1953, in the “pre-foundational” or “bureaucratic” period; and (2) the “operational” period, starting with the official constitution and institutional support for the Association, in 1953.
