Integrating Molecular Oncology into Therapeutic Strategies for Prostate Cancer

New targets in prostate cancer have recently been identified. Examples of approaches that hold promise include new hormone-manipulation therapy using abiraterone, targeting the endothelin type A receptor with ZD4054; targeting the Rank-ligand axis with denosumab; and combining docetaxel-based chemotherapy with samarium-153, a bone-targeting radiopharmaceutical agent.
