1.Dealumination of the mordenites decreases the number, and increases the strength, of the protic centers. The number of strong centers passes through a maximum as dealumination proceeds.2.The enhanced activity of the dealuminated mordenites in various reactions is determined by an increase in the number and strength of the protic centers, and a rise in the diffusional permeability.
