Purpose: The use of laparoscopic Roux-en-Y gastric bypass (LRYGBP) in the super-super morbidly obese (BMI >60) has been controversial. The safety and efficacy of laparoscopy in this class of patient is at question. Very few studies have specifically looked at this group and no large series have been published.
