Direct Observation Of The Decay H0(2040)-]Ppbar

We have observed the decay h/sup 0/(2040)..-->..p-barp in the reaction ..pi../sup +/n..-->..p-barpp at 10 GeV/c detected in the large-aperture solenoid spectrometer at SLAC. We have measured the product of the cross section and branching ratio, sigma(..pi../sup +/n..-->..h/sup 0/(2040)p)B(h/sup 0/(2040)..-->..p-barp), to be 0.84 +- 0.17 ..mu..b. The moments of the angular distribution are consistent with the quantum numbers of the h/sup 0/ meson being J/sup P/C = 4/sup + +/ and I/sup G/ = 0/sup +/.
