Iodine monofluoride resonant energy transfer chemiluminescence

Chemiluminescence on the IF(B 3 Π) 0 + → X 1 Σ + band system was observed in a flame composed of fluorine atoms, HN 3 and either I 2 or CF 3 . It was found that the chemiluminescence is due to near gas kinetic resonant energy transfer from NF(b 1 Σ + ) to ground-state IF molecules.
