Using EHR data to predict hospital-acquired pressure ulcers: a prospective study of a Bayesian Network model.

•We implemented a clinical decision support on hospital-acquired pressure ulcers.•Analyzing EHR data, the system delivers risk probability information to point-of-care.•In the prospective study, the ulcer prevalence decreased by over tenfold.•The length of stay was shortened and the user adoption rates were acceptable.•Well designed computerized intervention can be an effective ulcer prevention strategy.
