Research on High Sensitivity Caused by Broken 1-D Multilayer Stack Sensor Based on the Slow Bloch Mode
IEEE photonics technology letters(2012)
Abstract
We propose a new porous silicon structure for the interfered 1-D photonic crystal (PhC) that constitutes a multilayer stack. The vertical multilayer stack porous silicon and the horizontal disturbed by periodical air gaps modifies the perfect 1-D multilayer stack PhC into 2-D PhC. Slow Bloch mode (SBM) is the main feature of this device. We employ rigorous coupled wave analysis to theoretically simulate SBM characteristics. Results show that the device presents higher sensitivity than the perfect 1-D PhC and is an ideal candidate for a biosensor.
