Green synthesis and properties of nitrated HTPB

摘要
Recently, the "inert" binder is replaced with energetic binder to improve the energy density of solid propellant. An energetic binder, nitrated HTPB, was prepared by nitrating the epoxidized HTPB which was obtained from epoxidation of HTPB under phase transfer catalyst. The effects of nitration degree on the glass transition temperature, viscosity and thermal stability were investigated. The viscosity of NHTPB dramatically increased with the increase in nitration degree. The glass transition temperature of NHTPB also showed a linear increase. There were three distinct decomposition stages. The peak temperature of nitrate ester group decreased linearly with the increase in nitration degree.
