A method to simplify the simulation of isothermal jets from perforated panels

As an apart of air distributing system, perforated panels are widely used in air-conditioning engineering. Some errors, however, are still existed to calculate it with the existing mathematical models. It is proposed a new method to simplify the computation of the perforated-panel system with CFD techniques, and the way to define the boundary conditions in this paper. It can be found that the aperture diameter and Rfa (ratio of free area to gross area) are more important factors than the location of the simplified outlet and the outlet velocity. The experimental data of the air jet from a circular perforated diffuser is used to verify the accuracy of the simplification, which is found basically coinciding.
