Selection of wide hot strip mills configuration for schedule free rolling

In order to improve the shape adjustment ability of hot strip mills in schedule free rolling, this paper put forward a scheme of the wide hot strip mill type configuration. The characteristic of the new mill type was adopted linearly variable crown (LVC) work roll on upstream stands, taper work roll on downstream stands, and varying contact rolling technology on all the stands. The production data show that the new scheme can improve greatly the shape adjustment ability of wide hot strip mills and can meet the demand for schedule free rolling. Now, the related technologies have been promoted on other wide hot strip mills.
