Mathematical model considering non-gray radiation properties of gas in regenerative reheating furnace

Mathematical model of regenerative reheating furnace based on imaginary plane zone method was developed in which non-gray radiation properties of gas were considered. Equations were coupled to obtain the solutions. Total radiative exchange areas, heat flux to slab surface, temperature distribution and total heat exchange factor along length of a walking beam regenerative reheating furnace were simulated, with which the results of grayness of gas were compared. The results show that the mathematical model can correctly calculate the heat flux and temperature field, which can be done fast due to the simplicity. Grayness of gas can cause errors, and the errors of total radiative exchange areas, heat flux to slab surface, temperature distribution and total heat exchange factor can respectively reach 69.36%, 6.46%, 4.93% and 23.80%.
