Research on influences of rear-view mirror on aerodynamic drag characteristics of truck

摘要
The method of Computational Fluid Dynamics was applied to numerically simulate and analyze the external flow-field around a truck simplified model with different mirrors based on the truck with no mirror. The influence of the mirrors with different external shapes and styles on the aerodynamic drag characteristics of the body and the whole truck respectively, was studied. The conclusions can be made that the mirrors installed can increase the aerodynamic drag by 3.6% to 5.2%, compared with the mirror removed condition, and that the kinds of rear mirror have an effect on the aerodynamic drags of body and the whole truck, which will provide theoretical reference for styling of rear mirror and its matching with the whole truck.
