Cocaine- and amphetamine-regulated transcript (CART) peptide immunoreactivity in feeding- and reward-related brain areas of young OLETF rats.

•Cocaine- and amphetamine-regulated transcipt (CART) peptide has an anorexic effect.•The satiety effect of cholecystokinin (CCK) is mediated mainly via CCK-1 receptors.•The expression of CART peptide was studied in young CCK-1 receptor deficient rats.•CART expression seen in CCK-1 receptor deficient rats was similar to the controls.•CART expression is not directly regulated by CCK through CCK-1 receptor.
