•Dogs infected with blood trypomastigotes forms showed a higher parasitism.•Blood trypomastigotes-dogs infected showed increase of cytokines and chemokines.•Metacyclic trypomastigotes-dogs infected increased IL-12/IL-10 and IL-12/TGF-β ratio.•The correlation showed increased of IFN-γ, IL-10, CCL5/RANTES and CCR5-receptor.
