•We summarize results on epithelial ovarian cancer (EOC) from the EPIC study.•Consumption of total fat, fat sources and subtypes and risk of EOC was investigated.•Results do not support a role for total fat intake in relation to EOC risk.•There was a positive association between intake of polyunsaturated fat and EOC risk.•There was no heterogeneity in risk associations for serous and endometrioid tumors.
