•Fam107B is the unique paralog of DRR1, and both feature predicted GRE sequences.•Fam107B mRNA is expressed in layered structures during dorsal brain development.•The expression of Fam107B in the mouse brain suggests a role in corticogenesis.•Fam107B mRNA is expressed in neurogenic niches in the adult mouse brain.•Compared to DRR1, Fam107B is unaltered by glucocorticoids in the adult hippocampus.
