Detection of endometrial cancer via molecular analysis of DNA collected with vaginal tampons.

•Genes hypermethylated in primary endometrial cancer tumors can be detected in endometrial brushing and tampon biospecimens.•Lower genital tract biospecimen collection via tampon was well-accepted by women in this study.•Combining methylation analyses and a minimally-invasive biospecimen collection could yield a novel screening test for endometrial cancer.
