A patient-centered perspective of treating depressive symptoms in chronic heart failure: What do patients prefer?

•Treatment preferences of CHF patients reporting depressive symptoms (n=85).•Most patients (64.7%) preferred a low-threshold service with supportive talks.•Only 31.4% expressed a readiness to take an antidepressant.•After three-month, 24.7% had actually participated in a treatment.•Generalized anxiety was closely related to the disposition to begin a treatment.
