•TLC separation and bioassays have been combined, similar to the Immunoblotting.•Established the array correspondence between TLC and the bioassays systematically.•Set free the TLC spots from silica gel to minimize its interference for bioassay.•Observing the TLC separation, bioassay, and tracing analysis on the same scheme.•The time, labor, cost, and the use of solvents for screening have been greatly reduced.
