摘要

•This study showed a new protective mechanism of heparin against post-SAH EBI.•The neuroprotective effect of heparin is dose-dependent after SAH and good candidate for suppressing EBI after SAH.•Low-dose heparin posttreatment may significantly suppress post-SAH apoptosis, and the neuroprotective effect of heparin is mediated by sphingosine-related pathway.
