Langzeitbeobachtung einer Patientin mit erworbener Faktor-VIII-Hemmkörperhämophilie

We report on a 71 years old woman who suddenly developed a swelling of the right calf. Acute thrombophlebitis was suspected. She was treated with low dose heparin, but the swelling increased. She also developed large haematomas of the skin (lateral chest, right arm) and muscles (right tigh and buttocks, left calf). Acquired haemophilia was diagnosed because aPTT was prolonged (91 s), factor VIII : C activity was <1% and a FVIII inhibitor with 50 BE was detected.
