摘要
In the present study, a theoretical modeling of a surface texturing method by turning process using a driven rotary tool (rotary cutting) is suggested. The simulation is developed from a simple model that generates the trace of contact points between the tool and the workpiece. Then the simplified analysis is extended further for the complex patterns of texture. A circular tool with multiple cutting edges is utilized for discontinuous removal of the workpiece material. With this tool applied to the rotary cutting process, a textured pattern is generated on the workpiece surface. The modeling and features of surface texture depend on the geometry of the circular tool, and process parameters including the feedrate, rotational speed of the tool, and the rotational speed of the workpiece. An experimental system is designed and conducted using the CNC lathe to verify the simulation results. The experimental results agree well with the suggested model.
