摘要

•HTD upgrade mechanism were presented.•Aliphatics in lignite decreased whereas aromatics increased after HTD.•Oxygen-containing groups in lignite, were significantly removed after HTD.•The occurrence and migration mechanism of carbon during HTD were determined.
