Beta-decay of light nuclei close to the proton drip-line: 40 Ti and 35 Ca

Summary The ß-decay of 40 Ti and 35 Ca have been studied at the LISE3 spectrometer at GANIL. The decay schemes were deduced from the observed ß-delayed proton and γ emission of 40 Ti and 35 Ca into the ground and first excited states of 39 Ca and 34 Ar, respectively. The Gamow-Teller strength function B(GT) of the 40 Ti ß-decay extracted from the ß-decay branching ratios and the precisely measured 40 Ti half-life, provides for the first time an experimental calibration of the neutrino detection efficiency for the ICARUS solar neutrino detector.
