Nanophotonic Modulator With Bismuth Ferrite As Low-Loss Switchable Material

We propose a nanophotonic waveguide modulator with bismuth ferrite as a tunable material. Due to near-zero losses in bismuth ferrite, modulation with up to 20 dB/mu m extinction ratio and 12 mu m propagation length is achieved.
