ISOVECTOR EXCITATIONS NEAR THE N=50 SHELL CLOSURE

Based on new lifetime data from a (gamma,gamma') experiment the second excited 2(+) state in Zr-92 is identified as a mixed-symmetric 2(+) state by its strong M1 decay to the 2(1)(+) state. Experimental data and shell model calculations support the mixed-symmetry character of the 2(2)(+) state, while the 2(1)(+) state is identified as a rather pure neutron excitation. The shell model calculations also show a very similar character of the lowest two 0(+) states due to proton (2p(1/2))(2) and (1g(9/2))(2) configurations. Furthermore, two strong dipole excitations are observed in Zr-92, which are candidates for two-phonon 1(pi) states.
