Spatial Variations Of The Electron Temperature In Quantum Hall Systems With Slowly-Varying Confining Potential
INTERNATIONAL JOURNAL OF MODERN PHYSICS B(2004)
摘要
Spatial variations of the electron temperature perpendicular to the applied current in quantum Hall systems with slowly-varying confining potentials are calculated in the linear-response regime employing the hydrodynamic equation of the energy conservation as well as that of the charge conservation. The effects of the confining potential on the spatial variations of the electron temperature are investigated by employing model confining potentials as well as self-consistently calculated potentials. It is shown that the deviations of the electron temperature exhibit spatial oscillations along the confining potential gradient. The gradient of the electron temperature in the center of the sample exhibits quantum oscillations as a function of the filling factor.
