•South Beishan (SBOB) granitoids in the southern CAOB formed at ∼900Ma.•An early former Neoproterozoic microcontinent in the SBOB.•The ∼900Ma SBOB granitoids formed in an Andean-type Arc setting during the Rodinia assembly.•The SBOB and the Central Tianshan Arc Terrane underwent the same tectonothermal Precambrian evolution.
