摘要

•High surface flashover performance of the high density polyethylene (HDPE) in vacuum was obtained by direct fluorination technique.•Direct fluorination was first applied in the capability improvement of the high voltage pulsed-power devices.•The fluorinated HDPE still keeps its bulk properties.•The novel strategy developed in this work will greatly accelerate the development of high voltage pulsed-power devices.
