Immune status is associated with the mode of delivery in infants at increased risk for Type 1 Diabetes

Question: C-section is consistently associated with a higher risk for Type 1 Diabetes. To understand mechanisms, we investigated whether the mode of delivery: a) influences the distribution and activation status of immune cells; and b) effects immune responsiveness and cytokine profile during the first year of life.
