•The functional nerve cuff electrode was developed to suppress inflammation at the peripheral nerve.•Nanofibers can control the drug-loading weight by the electro-spinning method.•Drug release rate was controlled by PLLA and/or PLGA nanofibers.•Drug release rate was accelerated by PEG patterning.•Electrical properties of functional nerve cuff electrode were recovered by PEDOT:PSS.
