Numerical solution of matrix exponential in burn-up equation using mini-max polynomial approximation

•We propose a new numerical solution of matrix exponential in burn-up depletion calculations.•The depletion calculation with extremely short half-lived nuclides can be done numerically stable with this method.•The computational time is shorter than the other conventional methods.
