The effect of changing enrichments on core performance

•Five cores were analyzed with the same core configuration but with higher enrichments.•The highest enrichment core produced longest possible cycle length of 750 days.•New method for designing BP placement was introduced for the longer cycle lengths.•Fuel costs were calculated showing fuel costs decrease with increasing cycle length.
