Materials for Rotational Moulding

This chapter begins by describing the typical characteristics of rotomouldable materials. The range of rotomouldable materials currently available are highlighted with particular emphasis on the most common material – polyethylene. The effect on polyethylene properties by changing melt flow index and density is also described. Additional relatively common rotomouldable materials – polypropylene, polyamide and polyvinyl chloride are also described. The use of foam in rotational moulding, blowing agents, pigments and other common additives are also discussed. The technology and science behind the production of rotomoulding powders is also detailed as are the characteristics that make a good quality powder.
