Population dynamics and spatial distribution of Columbia lance nematode in cotton

•We studied population dynamics and spatial distribution of Columbia lance nematode.•Cotton, corn and soybean do not affect aggregation of lance nematode in the field.•Distribution of lance and reniform nematodes is driven by sand content.•The highest densities of Columbia lance were found in the top 15cm layer.
