Sleep staging from the EEG signal using multi-domain feature extraction.

•A novel feature extraction method was proposed based on the multi-domain analysis of EEG.•An improved weighted visibility graph algorithm was proposed.•The genetic algorithm was used to optimize the extracted features.•The sleep staging accuracy was greatly improved compared to single domain feature extraction methods.
