The performance of Luminex ARIES ® Flu A/B & RSV and Cepheid Xpert ® Flu/RSV XC for the detection of influenza A, influenza B, and respiratory syncytial virus in prospective patient samples.

•The Luminex ARIES® FluA/B/RSV is an RT-PCR method for detection of Influenza and RSV.•The ARIES® platform was compared to the Cepheid Xpert® during peak influenza season.•ARIES® performance was comparable to Cepheid Xpert®.•Xpert® has faster turn-around times, but similar technologist hands-on time.
