Nonspecific protein adsorption on cationically modified Lyocell fibers monitored by zeta potential measurements.

•Interaction capacity of Lyocell fibers with N,N,N-trimethylchitosan chloride and BSA.•The adsorption behavior is monitored online by zeta potential determinations.•As complementary techniques, charge titrations and low-voltage SEM are used.•Mechanical properties of the fibers are studied before and after adsorption.
