Natural Course And Prognostic Factors For Sleep-Disordered Breathing In Multiple System Atrophy

•A report of the natural course of sleep-disordered breathing (SDB) in 24 patients with multiple system atrophy (MSA).•Spontaneous improvement in apnea-hypopnea index (AHI) was observed in 29% of patients with MSA.•In 3/24 (13%) patients, the SDB type changed from obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) to central sleep apnea (CSA).•Duration between disease onset and first polysomnography (PSG) may predict later exacerbation of SDB.
