Treatment of hepatocellular carcinoma in the caudate lobe: US-guided percutaneous radiofrequency ablation combined with ethanol ablation.

•US-guided RFA-EA treatment strategy seems feasible and effective for caudate lobe HCC.•RFA-EA might be recommended for HCC in the caudate lobe, even in cases involving tumours < 2 cm.•No procedure-related deaths or major complications occurred after RFA-EA for HCC in the caudate lobe.•Further studies on the homogeneous background are demanded in the comparison of RFA-EA with RFA alone and EA alone.
