Exploring the limits of modelling thrombus formation: Comment on “Modeling thrombosis in silico: Frontiers, challenges, unresolved problems and milestones” by A.V. Belyaev et al.

•Realistic simulation of thrombin generation based on our present knowledge of its underlying biochemistry is illusory.•To simulate thrombin generation in models of thrombus formation a reactionscheme with two reactants and four kinetic parameters suffices.•Such simulation yields thrombin generation curves that are indistinguishable from experimentally obtained ones.
