Abstract
•Pre-Trial 1 inactivation of the BLA or GC elevated intake of a novel tastant.•The same pre-Trial 1 inactivation also caused intake reduction on Trial 2.•Inactivation induced post-Trial 1 did not reduce intake on Trial 2.•The BLA-GC circuit is required for normal expression of taste neophobia.•This circuit may also play a role in the formation of safe taste memory.
