Mobilization of Hematopoietic Progenitor Cells for Autologous Transplantation Using Pegfilgrastim and Plerixafor: Efficacy and Cost Implications.

•Mobilization of autologous hematopoietic progenitor cells (auto-HPCs) with pegfilgrastim (PEG) plus planned plerixafor was successful in 95% of 235 patients with plasma cell dyscrasias and lymphomas.•After PEG + plerixafor mobilization, the median collection yield was 7.27 × 106 CD34+ cells/kg after a mean number of 1.6 apheresis sessions.•The use of auto-HPCs with PEG + plerixafor is highly effective, predictable, and convenient with comparable cost to filgrastim or TBO-filgrastim in combination with plerixafor.
